Numi Organic Pu-erh Tea Drinks

Pu-erh tea! I received couple samples from Numi Tea for tasting few days ago. The Numi’s Pu-erh tea is a refreshing daily elixir that combines health & taste. According to Numi Tea, “We named our company Numi after the Middle Eastern dried lime that we drank as children in Iraq.” Pu-erh tea is an ancient fermented tea and it has more antioxidants than other teas. Also, they said Pu-erh tea helps weight management, improve digestion and metabolism, and naturally boost energy.

Numi Organic Pu-erh TeaNumi Organic Peach Pu-erh Tea with a ginger zing

Upon opening the bottle, there’s an aroma of peach and ginger mixed together coming out from the bottle and it was quite refreshing as well. The color of this peach Pu-erh tea was close to orange. The texture was cloudy and a bit thick because of the peach puree. You could tell the existence of the puree by not moving the drink for one minute so that the thickness would falls down toward the bottom of your drink. As for the taste, the first sip tasted a bit bitter with a subtle ginger flavor after you swallow it down and there was no sign of peach flavor what so ever. After couple more sips, there was a sign of hope that the peach flavor do exists and mean while the bitter taste got stronger. As you drink more, the sweet taste started to show up, but not much in overall taste. The aroma smelled pleasant, but the taste wasn’t up there as you would expect. There’s no aftertaste for this flavor.

Numi Peach Pu-erh Tea Numi Organic Jasmine Pu-erh Tea sweet floral notes

There’s a strong jasmine aroma coming out from the bottle when you pop the cap for the first time and it was very refreshing too. Also, it makes your mood better because of the joy that it brings when you smell it. The color was just like other yellowish jasmine tea and the texture was smooth, clean and cloudy. After drinking the Peach Pu-erh Tea, I’m hoping that this flavor will bring me some tastes that I like. The first couple sips taste just perfect. It wasn’t overly sweetened and the Jasmine flavor was well touched. The overall flavor was very well balanced and pure. After you finished half bottle, the flavor didn’t add up and it’s the same taste as your first sip. It’s very pleasant to drink and tasted similar to those jasmine teas that you brew from tea bags with exception of fruity notes. I didn’t detect any aftertaste.

Numi Jasmine Pu-erh Tea Numi Organic Classic Pu-erh Tea rich, bold & smooth

This Classic Pu-erh tea smelled just like any other iced tea drinks that you see on the supermarket shelves when you open the bottle for the first time. The aroma wasn’t that strong but it was refreshing. The color of this tea was close to Coca Cola or Pepsi. The texture was smooth, clean and dark. The first couple sips tasted lightly sweetened tea and it’s totally different than what I had before. If you compare to other iced teas, this classic tea gives you the rich, bold and smooth taste with a subtle bitter taste at the end. The lightly sweet taste balanced perfectly with the tea flavor because neither one dominates the other. it seems that the more you drink, the better the taste it gets.

Numi Classic Pu-erh Tea

Numi Organic Mango Pu-erh Tea with passion fruit

After having classic iced tea, time to get fruity.  The mango aroma coming out from the bottle was a bit strong after you open it and it’s just as refreshing as other flavors that I’ve tried in the above. The color for this mango tea was close to dark brown and the texture was the same as the peach Pu-erh tea. The mango flavor was easily recognizable in the taste for the first couple sips and it gets stronger after you finish half bottle. When your mouth processes your sip, it first hits you with the mango flavor, then the tea flavor and finishes with a subtle tart taste after you swallow it down. The drink itself was pleasant to drink, just like the other previous flavors. The flavor tasted better than the Peach flavor in my own opinion.

Numi Mango Pu-erh Tea

Numi Organic Earl Grey Pu-erh Tea zesty bergamot orange

A lightly sweetened iced tea aroma coming out from the bottle when you open the bottle for the first time and it’s a bit different than the Classic Pu-erh tea in terms of the scent. The color of this iced tea was also lighter than the Classic one and it’s in brown color. The texture was also lighter than the Classic and it leans more toward the normal iced tea drinks. For the first couple sips, I had no clue what the taste was suppose to be. All I know was lightly sweetened and had some tea flavor in it. After couple more sips, you could detect a distinct taste that’s a bit bitter but bitter in different way. I’m not sure how exactly I could describe it, but it’s an interesting taste. Call me crazy if you want, but I think it’s close to the smell of red woods. lol Since I never had bergamot orange before, I guess that would be the taste of bergamot orange. After you swallow it down, it left you with a tart taste.
