New SoBe Lifewater Coconut Water Beverage
Sobe Lifewate! I guess the trend for coconut water is still going on since SoBe Lifewater just came out with coconut water based fruity drinks. As of right now, it has three flavors: Mango Mandarin, Pomegranate Nectarine and Pacific Coconut. These coconut water beverages from concentrate contain 10% coconut water for each flavor. The label for the so called new hydration with coconut water drinks from SoBe looked very appealing and attractive. Also, it’s probably one of the reasons why I picked them up in the first place.
There’s a mix of Mango Mandarin aroma coming out from the 20 Fl Oz bottle and if you stick your nose around the opening for couple seconds, you could tell the Mango scent appears to be more appealing than the Mandarin scent. The color of this Mango Mandarin Lifewater looked like the water mixed with brown sugar. As for the texture, it’s same as other fruit flavored water drinks. Now the taste, I was expecting the taste to be light fruity water taste, but it turns out to be quite refreshing with fruity juice kind of feeling. You could taste the Mango flavor along with the coconut water, but not so much of mandarin in the taste. The drink was very pleasant to drink and after finishing half bottle of the drink, you could sense that it tasted close to vitaminwater but less sweet and fruitier. There’s no aftertaste for this Mango Mandarin Sobe Lifewater.
Upon busting the cap, there’s a strong fruity aroma coming from the bottle and not sure exactly what kind of fruits, but after sniffing around you could sense the Pomegranate scent. It reminds of me Vitaminwater Acai Berry Pomegranate drink in a way. The color of this drink seemed like red color and the texture was same as the previous flavor. As for the taste, the very first sip tasted lightly sweetened Pomegranate flavor. After couple more sips, you could sense the light coconut water flavor started to show up and the nectarine flavor was no where near any sign of life to be recognized. When your mouth processes the sip, the pomegranate flavor only showed up after you swallow down the sip. After chugging down half of the drink, some how the coconut water flavor was over taken by the Pomegranate flavor. At the end it was just a Pomegranate flavored water drink. The drink was smooth and pleasant to drink. There’s no aftertaste for this New Sobe Lifewater either.
The aroma coming out from the bottle smelled just like refreshing coconut milk and it was strong too because you do not need to put the drink under your nose in order for you to sense that scent. The color for this Pacific Coconut with Coconut water looked light gray and the texture was the same as water. As for the taste, the first sip tasted lightly sweetened coconut water flavor but it’s sort of like MSG with coconut water. After couple more sips, I’m more convinced that this flavor tasted similar to coconut milk rather than coconut water and the coconut milk flavor did not have the richness in it. As you drink more, the taste wasn’t close to what I had expected. It has coconut flavor in it but it was just not close to the real coconut water flavor. There’s a dryness feeling in your mouth for the aftertaste.
