Monster Energy Ultra Citron Drink

I think Monster Energy is trying to make a rainbow out of their product line because they just added another color to their Ultra line and this time it’s the yellow color. So far they have Monster Energy Zero Ultra (White), Monster Energy Ultra Blue, Monster Energy Ultra Red, Monster Energy Ultra Black and Monster Energy Ultra Sunrise (orange). I’ve reviewed all of the above colors and each has its own unique design on the can. As for this Ultra Citron, even the skeletons on the can are enjoying the flavor. Rock on! On the back of the can, it says, “Monster Citron is not named after funky looking French car of a Scandinavian Vodka. The citron fruit is an ancient relative of modern lemons, but with a more primitive aggressive nature perfect for Monster. So in homage to all ancestors both botanical and human, Ultra Citron, a new take on a classic drink. Ultra Citron’s a little sweet, a little tart, light, crisp and totally refreshing. All this with zero calories, zero sugar and a full load of our Monster energy blend.”

Monster Energy Ultra Citron

The lemon aroma coming out from the can right after you open it was kind of light but yet you could smell it from a distance and it didn’t smell like an energy drink at all. Without the carbonation, the drink itself looks just like an ordinary lemonade drink. As for the taste, first sip tasted refreshing and you couldn’t tell the difference between this and the drink from lemonade stand. After couple sips, you could sense the sweet taste was light and there’s a subtle tart taste at the end after you swallow down the sip. It definitely didn’t taste like an energy drink at all because it tasted just like a regular lemonade drink. There wasn’t any dryness feeling in the mouth for aftertaste in the beginning and the flavor didn’t add up either which makes it even more desirable to drink. After finishing half of the can, the sweet taste wasn’t quite the real sweet taste as you would expected and the dryness feeling started to show up but it wasn’t that heavy. This is by far the best tasting flavor from the Monster Energy Ultra line.

Have to agreed – most refreshing and best tasting Monster Ultra. Too bad it is not sold in Canada yet. Got some from NY last weekend and now it is all gone.

I am sorry but Monster’s Ultra Citron is my least favorite flavor.
To put it bluntly, it tastes like pi$$. (To me) Don’t ask me how I know what urine tastes like but that is how I imagine it would be.
Don’t get me wrong, I love Monster Energy Drink. Almost every flavor but my real favorite is the Ultra Zero. I am a heavy consumer of Ultra Zero.
