Mio Energy Liquid Water Enhancer

Everyone has probably heard of or tried Mio Liquid Water Enhancer by now right? It was on late night shows, TV commercials, websites and blogs back in April of this year. Now, you wonder what Kraft foods will come up next. Well, great news if you are a Mio fan because Mio Energy Liquid Water Enhancer is out. Basically the difference is that this time it contains caffeine if you want to compare it from the previous flavors. Also, they changed the default label color to black instead of sliver and I think it makes more appealing to consumers. Currently, Mio Energy has two flavors: Green Thunder and Black cherry.

Mio Energy Liquid Water Enhancer Green Thunder

After you tear off the thin layer plastic wrap from the top of the bottle and lift up the cap, there’s a some what sensible fruity like aroma coming out from the cute little container. The scent was refreshing and it reminded me of a perfume scent that I had encountered back in the days. The color of the liquid for this Mio Energy Green Thunder was obvious green and it pretty much matched up well with the color of the label on the bottle. The texture was just liquid but if you look at it closely, it was oily. After you squeezed a drop or two into the water, the original green color becomes lighter and so was the Green Thunder aroma. As for the taste, I squeezed two drops into the 8 fl oz water since I’ve tried their previous flavors. The first sip tasted light fruity flavor. After couple more sips, I still couldn’t taste the true flavor. So I added another drop and now you could sense both sweet and tart tastes. When your mouth processes the sip, you greeted by the lightly sweet taste first and then end with subtle tart taste after you swallow it down. As you drink more, you could definitely tell the artificial sweetener taste and the flavor tasted similar to citrusy as you drink on. Dryness feeling lingers around in your mouth for the aftertaste. By the way, I did get little energetic after drinking it.

Mio Energy Liquid Water Enhancer Black Cherry

As for this Mio Energy Black Cherry, the aroma coming out from the little container reminded me of cherry flavored bubble gum that I used to chew. The color was close to the actual cherry fruit color, but to me it was similar to the color of the seed inside the pomegranate. The texture was same as the previous flavor. As for the taste, I squeezed three drops based on the previous experience. The first sip taste lightly sweet cherry flavor. Also, you could sense the artificial sweetener right away from the beginning. After couple more sips, you could sense the cherry flavor tends to fade away fast and makes you want to keep on sipping it to catch the flavor. When your mouth processes the sip, you greet it by the light sweet cherry flavor first and then fade away with a subtle tart taste after you swallow it down. As you drink more, the flavor stated to pill up on your tongue and it makes the cherry flavor more appealing. The flavors were balanced well enough for me to continue tasting it. As for the aftertaste, it was the same as the above flavor. Again, you get energetic after chugging down 8fl oz of water mixing with this flavor.

Overall, if I have to pick one, I would choose the Mio Energy Black Cherry because it just tastes better. As for caffeine, not sure the exact number, but it did give you energy after drinking it. Also, Mio Energy ingredients were some what similar to the previous Mio water fruity flavors. Again, these two Mio Energy liquid water flavors only makes 18  8 fl oz servings instead of 24.

    Propylene glycol

is as a humectant, which means it keeps substances from drying out, and it was originally developed as an anti-freeze. Today it’s used in paint, dog food, floor wax, and you guessed it, many deodorants. Propylene glycol is neurotoxin known to cause contact dermatitis, kidney damage, and liver damage. In the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) for propylene glycol, the National Institute for Occupational Health and Safety warns workers to avoid skin contact with the toxic chemical, and yet millions of people apply it under their arms everyday. From the MSDS: “May cause eye irritation, skin irritation. Chronic exposure can cause gastro-intestinal disturbances, nausea, headache, vomiting, and central nervous depression.”
