McDonald’s Shamrock Shake is Back

March is already here and so is McDonalds Shamrock Shake! You can get it if you are in New York City right now and I heard it is being offered at select locations across this country. Remember, the Shamrock Shake is a seasonal drink and it was first introduced in 1970. It’s only available during the month of March in celebration of St. Patrick’s Day. This will be my first time trying Shamrock Shake from McDonald.

The shake is topped with whipped cream and a lovely small size cherry to make it look interesting. Guess what, cherry was the first I eat right after I got the shake from McDonald’s employees hand. First thing I did was, I smelled the Shamrock Shake and it actually has a subtle mint scent coming out from the shake and the color of the shake was course in green, but lightly green. As for the texture, it’s pretty thick, just like the shake you normally drink. The first couple sips tasted very refreshing and wish I could chuck it down the whole cup right away. The mint flavor wasn’t that strong and so was the vanilla flavor. After couple more sips, the sweet taste gets very strong and if you let it melt a bit under the sun light, the shake started to taste like melted vanilla mint flavored ice cream. After finishing 1/3 of the medium side Shamrock Shake, the sweetness started to add up and the dryness feeling started to appear in your mouth. It’s just way too sweet for me to continue sipping it. The aftertaste makes me want to drink one gallon of water.

Overall, I think the taste would be better if they didn’t make it that sweet. I like the combination taste of mint and vanilla, with the smoothness of the shake. It’s just way too sweet. Not only that, it has a lot of calories too.
