Kickapoo Energy Drinks

Couple days ago, I received a package from Kickapoo to review their energy drinks. According to their website, “Kickapoo is the first brand Monarch introduced in international markets. It was launched in Southeast Asia in 1966 and has been delighting consumers ever since. Today Kickapoo has become the #1 heavy citrus brand in Malaysia and Singapore thanks to its superior taste. In those countries, the brand now challenges Sprite and 7Up for market leadership after colas. Kickapoo contains caffeine. The amount of caffeine will, in general, be superior to the amount present in leading cola brands.”

There’s a refreshing lemon-lime kind of aroma coming out of this tall can right after you pop it open. The texture and the color of this drink looked almost exactly the same as Mountain Dew. One thing I noticed was the amount of carbonation in this drink surpasses other regular soda drinks. As for the taste, the first sip tasted lightly sweetened with lemon-lime flavor. After couple more sips, the sweet taste started to add up and its dryness feeling started to appear in your mouth as well. The taste of this citrus flavored carbonate drink reminds me of Mountain Dew drinks but in lighter version. After finishing half of the can, even though the sweet taste was a bit high but it did not over power the “Citrus flavor”. You could still taste or recognize the lemon-lime flavor. The caffeine didn’t start to kick in until one third of the can was down in my bladder. The drink was easy, smooth and pleasant to drink. There’s a sugary aftertaste left in your mouth after finishing the whole can.

Kickapoo Fruit Shine

The fruity aroma coming out from this can was refreshing and the dominate fruit scent would be the grape. In a way it did kind of smelled like “Sangria” drink if you sniff it long enough. The texture and color of this drink looked similar to the usual sangria drink without the carbonation obviously. The first sip tasted nothing but the sourness. The only chance of tasting the sweet taste was at the end after you swallow down the sip. After couple sips, the flavor was lean towards grape flavor and I guess this would represent the red wine. If you were drinking the real sangria drinks, you would get alcohol kicks into your system instead you get the other substance that gives you fake alcohol effect which is called caffeine into your blood stream in this case. This drink itself was easy and smooth to drink but it’s more of a carbonated grape flavored drink. The aftertaste for this fake sangria drink wasn’t bad at all.
