Gatorade G Series Thirst Quencher Lime Cucumber Limon Pepino

Sabor Nuestro Limon Pepino! That’s the line on the Gatorade bottle label and since I do not know Spanish, I had to rely on Google translate. It turns out to be “Taste our Lime Cucumber” This flavor came out earlier last year and finally I found it in my local supermarket C-Town. This flavor belongs to the Gatorade G Series thirst quencher Perform 02 and contains natural and artificial flavor. I’ve had cucumber flavored soda in the past and it tasted great. I hope this flavor will not disappoint me either.

The aroma coming out the bottle was very light and it was difficult to smell the flavor stated on the label.  If you pour it out to a glass bottle, then you could smell the light cucumber aroma clearly. The color for this cucumber drink was in light green and the texture was the same as other Gatorade drinks that you have had in the past. As for the taste, the very first sip allowed you to sense the two flavors: the usual Gatorade lime flavor and the light cucumber flavor. After couple more sips, some how the taste wasn’t the same as the first sip. When your mouth processes the sip, you greeted by the light cucumber flavor first and then ends with the tart lime flavor after you swallow it down. As you drink more, the cucumber flavor starts to diminish a bit and the lime flavor becomes stronger. The two flavors didn’t balance well and the cucumber was more of a supporting role for the lime flavor. The drink itself was smooth and pleasant to drink. After chugging down 8 fl oz of the drink, you could still sense the cucumber flavor but it wasn’t much of a factor. The dominate taste was still the lime. There wasn’t any unusual aftertaste for this lime cucumber drink.

Overall, the drink itself tasted good if you don’t mind not caring about tasting the true cucumber flavor. You could sense and smell the cucumber flavor when you are drinking it but it wasn’t that obvious. I would still pick one up despite the not so obvious cucumber flavor. However, I will pick the cucumber soda over this drink any day.

Sabor Nuestro actually is translated as “Our Taste” or “Our Flavor.” When I tasted it the cucumber flavor actually was pretty prevalent. It’s very good. Good job Gatorade!

One thing I noticed is that I was burping up the cucumber taste for the rest of the day after drinking that.

I did get few burps after finishing the drink but not all day.

I put some Limon Pepino in a Nalgene and watered it down about 50/50. After being watered down the cucumber flavor is more prevalent. It also left a very mild and refreshing cucumber flavor in my Nalgene that lasted for 3-4 water refills.
