Few days ago, I received a sample of premium Swedish coffee called Gevalia Traditional Roast Ground Coffee from Kraft Foods for review. This new Swedish coffee from Kraft is available in U.S. retail stores right now. According to Gevalia, “Since 1853, Gevalia has upheld the uncompromising standards put forth by our founder, Victor Theodor Engwall. Opening his business in the small seaside town of Gävle, Sweden, Engwall aspired to import nothing less than the world’s finest beans. Coffee aficionados soon learned that if you wanted good coffee, you bought it from Victor. Business grew quickly, and Gevalia became the official coffee purveyor to the Royal Court of Sweden.” By the way, the ingredient for this sample is 100% Arabica coffee.

The aroma for this traditional roasted ground coffee coming out from the package smelled a bit dryer than other medium roasted ground coffee when you open it for the first time. Also, the aroma wasn’t overly strong compared to other as well and you could tell the coffee inside the package was well grinded by just looking at how detail it comes down to. As for the color, it wasn’t as dark as you would have expected. It’s close to the light brown color rather than the usual deep brown color.

As for the taste, I followed instruction on the package, “To brew a delicious GEVALIA cup at home, we recommend 1 slightly rounded tablespoon of ground coffee for each 6fl oz cup of cold, filtered water.” So, I added 4 rounded tablespoon of ground coffee with 24 fl oz of water. The aroma smelled lighter after it was brewed because of the water, but it’s still strong enough sense and it smelled better after it’s brewed. The only one thing I noticed about the texture was that there’s a thin oily layer on the top of the drink surface. For the first couple sips you couldn’t really tell the difference compared to other roasted ground coffee. As you kept on sipping, you will notice that the coffee taste wasn’t bitter and it was smooth like having a tea drink. After having one or two more cups, even though the taste stayed the same which was a surprise and it was pleasure to drink as well because of its richer coffee flavor. The aftertaste was same as other roast ground coffee drinks.

Overall, I like the taste of this Gevalia Kaffe traditional roast ground coffee because of its smooth, rich and non-bitter taste. However, it all comes down to your personal preference. Some people like richer and natural coffee flavors while others like strong and heavy coffee taste. By the way, the Bodum 8 cup French press Brazil coffee maker that I used to brew this coffee was not good at all and it might have changed the result a bit. I’m thinking to return it. Anyway, thanks for sending this Gevalia Kaffe traditional roast ground coffee sample Kraft Foods!

So far I have tried Big Red made with real sugar and the new Big Red Zero from Big Red’s product line. Both of them tasted some what different, but the essential Big Red flavor was there. Now, it’s time to taste the Diet Big Red. I’m assuming that it’s going to be similar to Big Red Zero since diet and zero are both pretty much the same. By the way, this Diet Big Red contains 37mg of caffeine.

The aroma coming out from this Diet Big Red smelled the same as Big Red Zero and Big Red made with real sugar. All three of them got the similar lightly sweet bubble gum aroma. The color and texture for this Diet Big Red were also the same compared to the previous flavors that I’ve reviewed. As for the taste, the first sip tasted lightly sweet with subtle diet taste after you swallow down the sip. After couple more sips, it sort of tasted similar to the Big Red Zero, but the flavor wasn’t there yet. As you kept on sipping it, you could sense the signature Big Red flavor was not as strong as the regular Big Red and Big Red Zero. Also, the diet aftertaste was a bit strong and it kind of taken over the enjoyable Big Red flavor. After chugging down half of the drink, the Big Red flavor tasted bland and it wasn’t that pleasant to drink for the rest of it.

The ingredients for this Diet Big Red Soda Drink include: Carbonated Water, Sucralose, Natural and Artificial flavors, Caffeine, Sodium Benzoate (preservative), Red 40, Malic Acid and Acesulfame Potassium. The coffee content: 37mg/12fl oz.

Overall, if you are trying this Diet Big Red for the first time and you haven’t had any Big Red drinks before, then you will like this diet drink. If you had Big Red drinks before other than the diet flavor, then you might prefer the regular or the zero Big Red over this diet flavor. After trying three different Big Red drinks, I like the one that made with real sugar better than all others.

This is for those who are old enough to drink! Please drink responsibly! Valentine’s Day is coming up soon and Purity Vodka has some suggestions on how to upgrade your night for an evening infused with romance. Enjoy a pair of Purity Tangerine Rose Martinis as part of your special evening. These unique cocktails feature the essence of fresh tangerine through the Rapid Infusion method, an exciting new way to create freshly infused cocktails to order.

In Atlanta, couples can head to Italian eatery Baraonda (located on Peachtree near 3rd Street) for a festive Purity Tangerine Rose cocktail. It combines seasonal fruit with innovative techniques to create a refreshing libation. The recipe involves a rapid infusion method using an iSi canister that instantly infuses Purity Vodka with the essence of fresh tangerines. This method creates endless flavor combinations without artificial ingredients or a martini shaker.

San Francisco’s The Pied Piper at the Palace Hotel (2 New Montgomery Street) will also feature the Purity Tangerine Rose. In addition to the tangerine-infused Purity Vodka, this cocktail contains the juice of seasonal tangerines, lime juice, Peychaud bitters, and rose syrup. Purity’s complexity, sweet citrus, and delicate floral notes will arouse romantic feelings and stimulate the senses.

New York lovebirds should visit King (5 King Street) for a special Valentine’s menu of classic European dishes and Purity Vodka infusion cocktails. If the night is still young, take a trip to Dick and Jane’s (266 Adelphi Street) in Brooklyn. This intimate spot is pouring the Purity Tangerine Rose during the week of Valentine’s Day. With rose petals as a garnish, it is a new take on giving flowers. Make this Valentine’s Day unforgettable with a Purity Tangerine Rose at these exclusive locations.

Purity Tangerine Rose

2 oz Tangerine-infused Purity Vodka

1 oz fresh-squeezed tangerine juice

.5 oz fresh-squeezed lime juice

.25 oz rose syrup*

3 dashes Peychaud’s bitters

3 drops of rosewater

Instruction: Add all ingredients to a cocktail shaker with ice, shake and strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with a pink rose petal.

*To make rose syrup, boil water and remove from heat. Add one heaping tablespoon of dried rose petals for each quart of water boiled and let steep for five minutes. Strain rose petals from the water and mix with equal parts of sugar until dissolved.

Banana Soda! I picked up a Jamaican Choice Soda drink from PathMark supermarket today because it looked classic and the curiosity of the banana flavor that got me to buy this drink. Since the whole theme for this drink was yellow and looking at the scene on the label, it’s hard to tell whether it’s sun set or sun raise scene. Also, it’s rare to see Jamaican Choice soda drinks in the supermarkets that are around my neighborhood.

There’s a lightly artificial banana aroma coming out from the bottle when you pop it open for the first time. The color for this banana soda was obviously yellow and texture was the same as your regular soda drinks. As for the taste, the first sip tasted lightly sweet and there’s wasn’t any other detectable flavor in the sip. After couple more sips, there’s an inconvincible banana taste in the sip because it was very subtle and sort of fake. The drink itself was smooth, clean and drinkable. When your mouth processes the sip, all you could sense was the sweet taste with subtle banana candy flavor. After chugging down half of this banana soda drink, your mouth started to feel dry and sugary. The banana flavor stayed same even down to the last sip and it was more like sipping banana flavored candy drink.

The ingredients for this Jamaican Choice Citadelle Banana Soda drink include: Carbonated Water, Sugar and/or Corn Sweeteners, Artificial Flavor, Artificial color (including FD&C Yellow #5), Citric Acid, and preserved with sodium benzoate. It contains 190 calories, 80mg of sodium and 44g of sugar.

Overall, the drink itself wasn’t that bad if you like fake banana flavored drinks and don’t mind about the sweet taste. It would better if they could reduce the sweetness a bit and make the banana flavor more real.

This new Half’n Half flavor from Snapple is a combination of tea and lemonade. It’s naturally flavored with other natural flavors according to Snapple and it’s a blend of tangy lemonade with tasty tea. It contains 10 calories per 12 fl oz serving. The label design on the bottle wasn’t that special but it get’s the job done. By the way, I found this new flavor while I was looking for lemons in a local supermarket. Since I found this drink, I don’t have to make lemonade anymore for the day.

Upon busting the cap, there’s a lightly lemon tea aroma coming out from the bottle and it was refreshing too. The color for this new Half’n Half Diet Snapple Lemonade Iced Tea drink looked just like your ordinary iced tea beverages and the texture was the same as well. You couldn’t tell what’s so special about it by just looking at the label. As for the taste, the very first sip tasted lightly sweet iced tea flavor. After couple more sips, you could sense the tangy lemonade flavor in the sip and it was perfectly touched. When your mouth processes the sip, you greeted by the lightly sweet iced tea flavor first and then end with the tangy lemonade taste. The drink itself was smooth and clean with diet taste. This half and half taste balanced well enough to make it pleasant to drink because neither flavor dominates the other. Since it’s a Diet Snapple, there’s a light dryness feeling in your mouth after chugging down couple Fl Oz of this 32 fl oz drink. After awhile, not sure if this was still a diet Snapple because of the taste and the aftertastes weren’t that bad either.

The ingredients for this New Half’n Half Diet Snapple Lemonade Iced Tea include: Filtered Water, Clarified Lemon Juice concentrate, Citric Acid, Natural Flavors, Tea, Potassium Citrate, Sucralose, and Acesulfame Potassium. It contains 25 calories and 2% juice. The tea in the drink was made from green and black tea leaves.

Overall, I love the taste of this Half’n Half Diet Snapple. This drink belongs to the list of my best Snapple flavors that I’ve tried. I wasn’t expecting it to be this good in the beginning and I got shocked by this new flavor after couple sips. If you can find this new half and half diet Snapple, you should try it. By the way, it would be better if they use sugar instead of sucralose.

I received couple cans of Pussy Natural Energy drinks from Pure Market Solutions few days ago for tasting. Now, I’m guessing the reason why they named Pussy because it’s catchy and it targets at young generations. According to the Pussy Drinks, Pussy is a 100% natural energy drink and contains no preservatives or artificial additives. It is made with a blend of white grape juice, limes, lychee flavors and infused with body boosting botanicals.

There’s a lightly grape aroma coming out from the can with subtle lime scent after you open it up for the first time and I was expecting it to be just like any other energy drinks. The color was in light gold and similar to your normal energy drinks. The texture was lightly carbonated and it looked like a soda drink. As for the taste, the first sip tasted fruity and there’s a subtle bitterness aftertaste after couple more sips. The lightly sweet fruity taste was well touched and the natural energy started to kick in pretty fast as well. When your mouth processes the sip, it felt like you were drinking fruit juice beverages. After awhile, you could also sense the subtle lime taste in the sip and the overall taste wasn’t strong or taste like medicine. It’s actually smooth, clean and pleasant to drink. There’s a bit of dryness feeling on the tongue for the aftertaste.

Botanical Extracts Per Can: Guarana 530mg, Siberian Ginseng 114mg, Milk Thistle 286mg, Ginkgo Biloba 109mg, Schizandra 112mg and Sarsaparilla 103mg.
Overall, this Pussy Energy Drink tasted pretty good and the high caffeine content kicked in pretty fast. I like how they made the taste smooth, calm and easy to drink. If you are curious about this Pussy Energy drink then you might want to give it a try. Remember, “The drink is pure – it’s your mind that’s the problem.” Thanks for sending the samples!

I just saw the news about the co-founder and former president of Vitaminwater, Mike Repole, joins the board of BODYARMOR® SuperDrink(TM) and this muitifunction beverage was awarded the best functional beverage of 2011 by BevNet.com. Since it considers the best, I have got to try them out. So I bought three different BodyArmor super drink flavors from a local store. According to BODYARMOR® SuperDrink™, “it’s an antioxidant and nutrient rich refreshment beverage formulated to support the body’s immune system. Each exotic fruit & tea flavor loaded with Polyphenols, Vitamins A, B complex, C & E, Electrolytes and amino acids, available in 6 exotic fruit flavors. Coconut water and other electrolytes provide hydrating properties to all 6 flavors without the use of artificial colors, flavoring or preservatives.”

All Natural Body Armor Tropical Mandarin Super Drink

There’s a refreshing tropical fruity aroma coming out from the fully wrapped PET bottle and it was lightly sweetened as well. If you sniff it long enough, you could sense the mandarin aroma with subtle mango scent. The color of this Body Armor Tropical Mandarin super drink was obvious orange color and the texture was similar to vitamin water. As for the taste, the very first sip tasted close to lightly sweet fruity taste and it was difficult to sense what exactly was in the flavor, but it tasted great. After couple more sips, you could sense the light mandarin and mango flavors in the taste. When your mouth processes the sip, you greeted by the light sweet fruity taste first, and then ended with subtle tart taste after swallowing it down. After chugging down half of the bottle, you will feel the dryness on your tongue. The mandarin and mango flavors were balanced well enough to have a pleasant taste. As for the coconut water, it was difficult to detect, but this tropical mandarin flavor was easy to drink. There wasn’t any aftertaste that causes you to hate.

All Natural Body Armor Cherry Citrus Super Drink

Upon opening the cap, there’s a strong refreshing cheery aroma coming out from the bottle. The color of this super drink looked very close to the cherry fruit itself. The texture was the same as the previous Tropical Mandarin flavor. As for the taste, the first sip tasted sour and fruity. After couple sips, the taste seems to be turning on the sweet side and the cheery flavor was lightly sensible. Also, it gives you a subtle tart taste after you swallow down the sip just like the previous flavor. The cherry flavor was very well balanced with citrus flavor, but the cherry flavor tasted similar to cherry flavored candies. There’s a dryness feeling on your tongue after chugging down half of the bottle. Again, there’s no sigh of coconut water in the flavor.

All Natural Body Raspberry Blueberry Goji Super Drink

The aroma coming out from the fully wrapped PET bottle was a mixture of berry flavors and it was refreshing as well. If you sniff it for couple seconds, the slightly dominate scent would be the raspberry. The color for this flavor was close to the raspberry and the texture was just the same as previous flavors. As for the taste, the first sip tasted smooth, clean with berry flavors. The tart taste seems to be stronger than the previous two flavors. After couple more sips, you could tell the subtle coconut water flavor after you swallow down the sip. The berry flavors were difficult to recognize at first, but it becomes clearer as you continue to drink. After chugging down half of the drink, the raspberry flavor seems to be slightly dominated over other two flavors. The sweet and sour tastes were well balanced and it was very pleasant to drink. It has the same aftertaste as the previous flavors.

Overall, all of those three flavors tasted well and personally I like the Raspberry Blueberry Goji flavor because it’s just that good. The Cherry Citrus would be my third choice if the other two flavors weren’t available. Also, not sure how these drinks will improve my game but at least they taste good. I can’t wait to try out the rest of their super drink flavors. By the way, the label design that wraps around the PET bottle looks stylish and appealing.
