Extra Ginger! The other day I bought a soft drink called Cock’n Bull Ginger Beer and I find it interesting because the name sounded like a farmer made the drink. The company who made this drink is called Cock’n Bull Beverage Corp. and since their website is under construction, there wasn’t any detail information about the drink. However, on the Pipelinebrandsusa site, it says “Once upon a time, say, back in the 1940s, vodka was little known in the United States, and gin reigned supreme as the clear spirit of choice. A gentleman by the name of John G. Martin, president of G.F. Hueblein Brothers, Inc., had a wild notion. He bought a vodka distiller, and acquired a vodka recipe that had belonged to a Russian family named Smirnov. Martin was sure everyone would love it.” You can read more here.

There’s a refreshing ginger aroma coming out from the bottle when you open it for the first time and it reminds me of the ginger soup that I had to drink every time I have a cold. Also, the aroma was strong and it will make you sneeze if you put your nose at the bottle opening for couple seconds. The color of this Cock N Bull Ginger Beer soft drink looked similar to the actual ginger skin. The texture was similar to other carbonated soft drinks as well with the exception of heavy carbonation. In this case it’s close to beer drink without alcohol in it. As for the taste, the very first sip tasted sweet with subtle ginger flavor. After couple more sips, you could feel the strong ginger flavor in your throat and it’s spicy as well. Also, you get the burning feeling in your throat and it makes you cough. Now I know why it says “Since 1946, The Extra Ginger Soft Drink.” When your mouth processes the sip, you get greeted by the sweet taste first and then spicy taste after you swallows it down. The sweet taste wasn’t overly strong or lightly, it was just perfect. After chugging down half bottle of the drink, the mouth was full of ginger flavor. It felt like you were drinking a ginger on steroid drink.
