Celebrate Summer with New Crystal Light Mocktails

28

The other day, I received a sample of Crystal Light Mocktails Mojito flavored drink mix for tasting from Kraft Foods. According to them, it’s new and limited edition. Also, they said, “Crystal Light Mocktails are a low-calorie drink mix available for a limited time in Margarita, Mojito and Appletini flavors.  With just 5 calories per serving, they offer all the flavor of your favorite summertime beverage, without the compromise on calories.  New Mocktails easily mix up the perfect pitcher without the hassle of muddling limes, blending ice or using a cocktail strainer.  Just add water, mix it up and toast to summertime!” In order for me to experience this Mocktail, I had to get a cup and an ice pitcher from Target.

Up on tearing off the corner of a pocket, there’s a strong refreshing mint aroma coming out from the pocket with subtle lightly sweet scent and it reminds me the smell of Colgate cavity protection fluoride toothpaste that I use every day. Since packets contain powder, the color was pure white and the texture seemed close to white flour that you used to make buns. After the powder dissolved with 8 cups of cold water in an ice pitcher, the aroma still stays the same and I was surprised by it. However, the color turned to a light baby blue and the texture was cloudy. It looked like soap water with out the bubbles. As for the taste, the first sip was all lightly sweet and sour. After couple more sips, you could sense the mint and lime kind of flavors with subtle tart taste at the end after you swallow it down. Both sweet and sour tastes were balanced quite well. As you drink more, you started to feel dryness in your mouth, but some how the taste of this drink makes you want to keep on drinking it. Also, you couldn’t tell if this drink was made from dissolving powder which it’s a good thing compares to other powder drinks. The dryness lingers around a bit in your mouth for the aftertaste.

Overall, the taste wasn’t that bad and it would be better if they actually put some more natural flavors in it. Some how the ingredients make me wonder what it will do to my health, but I will still try their other two new flavors. Thanks for sending the sample, Kraft Food!

Thanks, Shirley, I’ll have to check that out. I’ve stockpiled the mojito because that’s my favorite, but the Schnucks in Hampton Village keeps selling out of the margarita flavor and I want to try that

    @ Tiffani:
I’m in St.Louis and I just bought some Mojito flavor at a Schnuck’s Market. Not bad… it needed a little extra tang so I added a sliced up lime to the pitcher.

I was informed by Meijer (which is the place I originally bought this product) that it was a summer product and there was no more and I was not going to get more. I looked at Kroger with no luck. We added fresh limes and fresh mint leaves to our Mojito and ended with a splash of Sprite Zero. . .they were delicious! I want these all year around!

The Mocktails are still in my local store so I guess I’d better stock up before they are gone for the season. They are on sale 2 for $6 at Schnuck’s until July 31. There is no special ads or banners, they are just on the shelf with the rest of the Crystal Light. I did notice in one of the magazine ads that it stated “for a limited time only”.

I sampled Mocktalis in Flagstaff, Az @ Sams Warehouse, loved all three flavors. I bought the 3 flavors in package but when I checked shelves @ Sam’s Avondale, they don’t carry product.

Where can I find Mocktails in Phoenix, Az area?

I tried both the Margarita and the Mojito. The description she gives for the Mojito is spot on. You can taste the lime and spearmint and the spearmint tastes and smells like really good spearmint chewing gum. As for the Margarita, I have bought margarita mix in bottles (with so many calories in them) and none of them can duplicate the taste of a margarita that an experienced bartender can accomplish. This margarita does! Anyone that drinks margarita is familiar with that distinctive taste and the salty undertones. Even the smell is the same. I have a notion to add a splash of tequilla to this and drink it out of a margarita glass, and make my own version of a skinny girl margarita, it is that good! I can easily get addicted to this! LOL. I agree with the reviewer that there should be more natural stuff in here but to satisfy my craving for margarita without turning myself into a full blown lush, I will settle for this! Good stuff!
