Varity packs of fruity flavored soda drinks from Bj’s Berkley & Jensen wholesale club. I never heard of Berkley & Jensen before and I thought why not give it a try. After some research, it turns out that its Bj’s own house-brand that makes products from food to health care. The designs on the can looked pretty appealing and attractive. Currently, they have four different flavors: Root Beer, Grape, Orange and Lemon Lime. I guess these are the popular flavors for soda drinkers.

The aroma coming out from the can was a bit lighter than your regular root beer soda drinks and it was lightly sweetened too. The color and the texture were the same as coke drinks. As for the taste, the first sip tasted lightly sweet and root beer flavor was light as well. It tasted a little watery. Usually the vanilla flavor was a bit sensible and the wintergreen like flavor was obvious, but the taste for this root beer drink was light all around. However, it’s smooth, clean and not bad taste. If you want to compare it to A&W, this one was not even close to A&W’s root beer. After chugging down half of the can, there’s a slight bitterness taste after you swallow down the sip. There’s a strong dryness feeling on top of your tongue for aftertaste.

Upon opening the can, there’s a similar Fanta Orange aroma coming out from the can, but it was lighter than the Fanta Orange. The color and texture were similar to Fanta Orange as well. As for the taste, the first sip tasted sweet and orange flavor was there but not as natural as other orange flavored soda. After couple more sips, the taste started to adds up in terms of the orange flavor and your tongue gets the artificial feeling after you swallow down the sips. The drink itself was smooth and clean, just like the previous flavor. It didn’t have the crisp taste and the HFCS taste was bad. The aftertaste was just the same as the previous flavor. I think I will stick with Fanta Orange.

The aroma coming out from the can was very light and it was difficult to sense it unless you sniff it around the opening for couple seconds. After you sense the aroma, it smelled close to other lemon lime soda drinks and you couldn’t tell that much difference from Sierra Mist natural lemon lime. The color and texture were both looked same as other lemon lime drinks. As for the taste, the first sip tasted like I was drinking some sort of medicine. There’s was no sign of lemon lime what so ever. The sweet taste was light just like the previous flavors. After couple more sips, you still couldn’t taste the true lemon lime flavor. The taste was more dominated by the sweet taste with lemon lime hints. Also, it was the crisp either and there’s no freshness in the taste as well. The aftertaste was all dryness and sweet taste.

The grape flavor was there, but can’t compare to the Welch’s fruit Fizz grape drinks in terms of the taste. The aroma was light when you open it up for the first time. The color and texture were the same as your regular grape soda drinks. The sweet taste was well balanced with the grape flavor. It’s smooth and pleasant to drink. When your mouth processes the sip, you first greeted by the grape flavor, then you meet the dryness feeling afterwards in your throat. As for what kind of grapes was used, it’s the artificial flavor. The grape flavor was not even close to the Welch’s grape flavored drinks. There’s no freshness in it. Through out the whole process, I felt it taste close to grape flavored candy rather than the natural grape.

Overall, I would pick the root beer and grape flavors from those four flavors if you have to choose. I will stick with other brands fruit flavored soda drinks. If you are curious, then you might want to try them out. Personally, I think you should stick with what you used to drink.

The cans remind me of Dry Soda’s bottles. Steve, if you can find Dry Soda in your area, I think it would make a great review. I live near their headquarters/tasting room in Seattle–but I don’t know if they have national distribution.
